Hunted Waters

Espri chuckled at the nickname. "Nobody's noticed my stripes before, the blend in with the rest of my coat." She passed the girl her pack, while tossing Minx a but of left over meat. The little cat pawed and played with it, before taking the morsel in her mouth. Espri smiled brightly at the adorable scean, before turning to Lily. "She may be useful, especially in finding food and such." She turned and picked up her own pack. "Where to, my fine, feathered friend?"

Lily smiled at her freind and now new pet before bending over and picking Minx up and cradling her close to her chest and then looked up at the sky ,"logically ,who ever is doing this would need to hide somewhere" she said. "but they would need an area to hunt more animals and catch people too, and a place to store those caught and food for them ,all in a place where they can't be found by outsiders" she said working through a plan in her head and then she lowered it and looked at her freind ."tunnel systems by the mountain of the wind, there's a plain there and a forest, a small river runs over the mountain and there are tunnels there that go in to the mountain too" she said with a small smile, they knew where to go

Espri nodded. "Its the most logical hiding spot. A lot of human clans pass by there, and animals use that river to water. The ground is fertel there, so there's plenty of food for the herbavores, and hunting for the carnivores. And the humans," she placed her hand on her chin, thinking. "Not to mention all the mountian clans that pass through there. Whoever this mage is, he sure thought this through. Must be a genius." She stood from her sitting position. "But their an evil one. And thats the worst kind." She gazed in the direction of the mainland, while throwing her bag over her shoulder and acrross her chest once more, then turned her eyes on her friend and the couger. "If you don't what to carry her while flying, I can take her, plus she'd be able to run along when she wants to, and we know she will." She winked at the little cat and giggled. "But if you wanna take her its fine."

Lily smiled and then looked down at minx in her arms ,"everyone must try the world of the wind three times in a lifetime, once when the spirits bring us down and once when they take us back up, and of course once more when they gift us with the chance to use wings" she recited and then smiled at her friend. "I was an hour old when my mother took me to be changed, and a day when she was killed, but I always remember the words of the wind she told me" she said in a soft voice before stretching her wings out behind her and beating them gently as the wind blew through her dark feathers

Espri shielded her eyes from the sun and watched the girl take off. She grinned, then cracked her knuckles and neck. "Lets do this." She said to herself, getting into a running position. Her powerful legs pushed off the ground, launching her into a great leap. Once she touched down again she took off at a run, catching up with Lily above. "Hey!" She called, a relization hitting her. "What are we gonna do when we reach the shore? I won't be able to swim that far very quickly!" Lily might have been able to fly, but Espri sure couldn't.

Lily heard her friends shout and smiled even though she knew she couldn't see it, "I know a cave passage that we can use, it's been used by our kind since our creation to hide our trading trips from the humans" she called down as minx gave a mew in her arms. Lily looked down to see the ginger mountain lion with her eyes wide open and pawing at the wind that came past her and lily laughed lightly at her new freind before beating her wings down hard again and shooting up higher in to the sky

Espri nodded, even though her friend couldn't see it. She pushed herself a little harder in order to keep up with the flying girl, since she didn't know the island that well. She made sure the check that Lily was still there every now and then, and that she didn't get left behind. After running for quite a while, the strong, salty smell of the ocean hit her, and within moments, they'd reached the shore. The tiger-girl slowed to a stop, resting her powerful legs.

Lily watched the trees spread out below her and smiled as they began to thin out and then she flicked her body upwards so she was standing in the air and she looked down to see the flash of White that she knew was her friend. Minx gave a mew in her arms and she smiled and then folded her wings in for a moment and dropped int the air before spreading them out to stop the falling and then doing it again to help herself land on the sandy shore line before she looked around for her slightly more noticeable friend

Espri's paws padded the warming sand, soft beneth her pads. She noticed Lily landing a few yards up the beach, and walked to meet her. "Good flight?" She asked, reaching out to scratch Minx under her chin. Slowly, she gazed up and down the what was visable of the shoreline. "So," she started, "where's the tunnle?" She didn't see and openings nearby, but then again, it was probably hidden so any humans couldn't find it. She sat down on her hind legs, her tail leaving swish marks in the sand. "Is it nearby?"

Lily smiled at her friends words before nodding and then turning to face the sea, she took a few steps forwards before tapping her feet across the sand and then one of her feet suddenly dropped and she nodded. "take her for a moment please" she said turning back to her friend and dropping minx down beside one of her paws before bending over and running her hand over the sand until she found the same spot and then she pressed down and her hand disappeared under the sand as well. She ran her fingers across the cooler and damp sand below the top stuff and felt rocks down their but that wasn't what she was looking for, this was a pouch in the ground and she needed to find what it held in order to open the door to get across the sea

Espri lifted Minx from the ground and cradled the baby puma in her thin arms. Scratching the little cat under her chin, Espri followed her friend's lead, feeling for the tunnel with her paws. Having multiple appendiges had its advantages. She started in the opposite direction, hoping to cover more ground. After feeling around for a while, her now sand-covered paw hit a pocket in the sand. "Hey!" She called up the shore to her friend. "I think I might have found it!" She set Minx down, and looked at where she felt the opening. It didn't look any different from the rest of the beach, but apparently it was. "A tunnel under the sea." She said to herself. "My life just keeps on getting stranger."

Lily heard her freind shout over to her and she rolled her eyes as her fingers brushed a large warm slab of rock and she nodded her head ,"I'm coming over" she said and she pulled her hand out of the sand and looked at her finger tips to see them covered in red dye from sea weed. She shook her head and rolled her eyes again before walking across the beach and over to a rather confused looking minx and espri and she smiled at them, "who's going first then?" she asked with a snigger

Espri looked down at the ground. "I don't know. I will, I guess. I'm the one who really needs it. She gingerly pawed the sand, before letting one, and soon another, leg sink under the sand. The rest of her body soon followed, and next thing she knew she was in a tunnel under the beach. She called up, not sure weather or not her friend could hear. "It's dark, but seems to be okay." She walked out of the way of the entrance, waiting for her red-pink eyes to adjust to the dimness, her nightvision begining to kick in. "You comming down, or what?"

Lily heard espri called over to her from under the sand and lily took a moment to look around at the island of water and then her ears twitched as she heard something move. She turned around and gently beat her wings down in slight nervousness and she looked into the trees ,stepping back slowly towards the sand tunnel. A twig snapped in the near her in the trees and lily bit down on her lip as she saw something shine in the branches and her eyes caught a outline of a human torso but it had too many legs to be human which meant it could be someone friendly but it might not be as well

*walk up the tunnel a bit*

Espri stood, her night vision fully working now, watching the tunnle entrance for Lily. She didn't seem to be coming. Maybe she already took off, she thought. She's probably flying over me right now. She waited a little longer, just in case, shruged, and began her way down the tunnle. It was bigger than she expected, though still somwhat small. It was dark, damp, and warm, made of rock, with a light coating of sand spread across it's floor, probably from all the feet that have been down there in the past. Keeping one hand on the bumpy wall, since her nightvision wasn't perfect, she continued slowly down the secret passageway.
