*Nyah, I'm back*
After waiting for a while, Espri became very bored. She stoof, added plenty of wood to the fire so it would stay burning without her, and went to find food. She found bushes full of berries and began gathering. Once she felt, she had enough, she started back toward the cave. She reaturned, and realized that Nix wasn't back. "I have nothing to worry about," she said to herself. She laid the berries out by the fire, then left again to collect more fire wood.

Lily walked up to the fire pit and almost laughed in relief, there was a man sitting there who can't have been older than 20 summers and an older man beside him, they were talking in low voices but they sound both angry and scared as she walked over ,"excuse me, Im from the mainland and I have to go home tomorrow and I was looking to trade" she said in the sweetest but weakest voice she could manage and the older man looked up at her and she saw sorrow and pity in his eyes.
"I can offer you seal stew and a weeks worth of supplies" he said in a dry voice and pushed his pack towards her and then smiled at her and turned to the other man ,"but we lost 8 this week, if it keeps up all our children will gone, girls older than her have gone for pity's sake, we have to do something" he said in a harsh voice as lily unpacked her 4 antlers and deer hide and rolled then out on the ground in front of him ,"fair?" she asked and he looked down and then up at her again and nodded
"fair indeed, but you make sure your careful while your here before you go back tomorrow, you seem like a nice girl" he said in a much softer voice than he had used against the other man and then he gave her a comforting smile as she picked up the second pack and rested it in her arms and dipped her head and began to back away from the two men

As Espri wandered, occasionally picking up sticks and logs to burn, her enhanced night-vision began to see strange things. Creatures she'd never seen before darted about her feet and climbed through the trees. She saw unknown plants, with strange flowers of unusual colors. But one thing specifically caught her eye: A little doll. It was just lying in the middle of the forest, with nobody around. Espri gingerly picked it up, and felt the soft cloth it was made of. It had long har, feeling like it had come from a horse's mane. It probably belonged to a little girl, who'd maybe lost it while playing with her friends. Balancing the firewood on her tiger-half, keeping it there with one hand, she held the doll in her other and reaturned to the cave.

Lily shifted the other pack and cradled it against her chest as she walks back through the trees and then she paused as she heard the sound of snapping twigs. She stopped and pressed herself against a nearby tree when she counted the number of steps the other was taking, either they were walking very quickly or they had more than two legs meaning it could have just been Espri walking away from the cave to find food or wood. Lily shifted the larger pack in her arms again and then took a step out from behind her tree and spotted a long pale tail and sighed and then jogged forwards ,"spi?" she called or
*her nickname is spi ,sp-ee*

Espri heard her nickname called. "Yeah?" She called back, comming into the light of the fire. "Oh, hi Lily. I got some firewood." She placed some of it on the dying fire, prying it to make it bigger. She still clutched the little doll she'd found in her hand. She sat down in front of the flames, her tiger-half curling up benieth her. She noticed the packs her friend carried. "Oh, you got supplies!" She smiled. "What all did you get?"

Lily walked over to the fire that Espri had made and dropped the second pack ,"it was werid, they were taking about children going missing and all the humans were worried and moving to the mainland. But it was changling children and human children going missing" she said and then sat down beside her friend and pulled her jerkin off over her head ,"the guy gave this to me because he said he was going to the mainland and then told me to get away too if I wanted to be safe" she said and then sighed and dropped her jerkin beside herself and then reached up and tried to find her willow bark

Espri reached over and untied the bark for her friend. "Going missing, huh?" She questioned, looking down at the small doll in her hand. What if this had belonged to a missing little girl? She could see it in her mind: A little girl, no older than 6 summers, being dragged away from her family and friends. She struggles to escape, clutching the one posession she was able to hold on to, her beloved doll. As the man kidnapping her drags her, she looses her grip, and the doll falls to the groud, out of reach of the girl.
Espri shakes her head and clutches the doll. "Thats terrible."

Lily felt her willow bark fall away and sighed and then reached her arms out and her dark wings followed her arms and shot out from being crushed against her back. She gave a small sigh and tilted her head to one side and then ran her free hand through her long messy red hair, she looked up at the sky and spotted dark colours rolling in from the mainland and lily narrowed her eyes ,"I've hears about these people from the mountains who have spread through the forests like a mist, I think they have gotten men over here, that's who's doing this" she said wih her head still looking at the sky

Espri tore her red-pink eyes from the doll to look at her friend. "Men just comming and stealing children? Why?" People just stealing children from their family and friends- who could do such a thing. Espri reached and put the small toy in her pack. "They have to have a reason, don't they?" She inquired. "They wouldn't just steal them to cause panic. They would have to need them for something." She stared at the flames, trying to think of a reson why.

Lily nodded and beat her wings gently and then looked around and then looked back at the fire and paused for a moment ,"us, its us" she said suddenly and then she lifted her head and looked over at her freind ,"it's already well known that we are powerful and it's known even more that the mages known we are the most powerful Demon's when we die, so if these people are taking children then the most logical reason is to make slaves" she said and then tilted her head to one side ,"slaves or to make power" she said in a slightly bitter voice

Espri thought for a moment, before and idea hit her. "An army..." She realized quietly. "Who ever they are, I think their building an army of halfling children." She recalled the horrible night she was transfomed, and shuddered. "We can't let those kids be put through that terror." She thought of the poor girl that doll belonged to, how scared she must be. Suddnely, Espri clenched her fists in anger. She stood, her powerful legs tense. "We need to save them."

Lily nodded her head along with her freinds comments but didnt move ,"I agree, but we're of no use to them tired and hungry and weak, we have to stay here and rest for the night and eat and we'll set off first thing once the sun has risen" she said in a calm voice at which point she turned round and reached over to the second pack and pulled it closer to her and pull it open and took out a bag of seal meat stew which she then slid on to a stick beiges knelling and sliding over the fire

Espri looked out the cave entrance once, then sat back down. "Your right, we'd be useless if were were tired and hungry." She put a little more wood on the fire. "But I can't help but think how scared and alone they feel. When I went out to collect firewood I found a doll, just lying in the middle of the forest. It probably belonged to a stolen child." She pulled the toy from her bag and held it out to Nix. "And its clean, so it couldn't have been lying there for very long."

Lily tilted her head to one side and looked at the small doll and then her wings twitched and she turned her head away and looked into the fire ,"we have to find them as soon as the sun is up, there's a fair chance that we can save some of them from being changed if we get there soon enough" she said as the wind blew throught their camp and made the fire flicker and dance in front of her and her hair blew back over her sholders and her wings twitched as the breeze blew through her feathers and she lifted her head and looked up at the darkening sky

*Vacation sucked.*
Espri nodded at what her friend said. "We have to. As far as we know, we're the only people who know whats happening and can save them." She slipped the toy back into her pack, glancig at it one last time. She sighed, and prodded the dancing flames with a stick to keep the fire from going out. A feeling of anxiety had settled over her, along with anticipation. Morning needed to come faster, those children needed to be saved. She curled her snow-colored tail around her tiger-half, and settled down to watch the fire.
