Lux raised an eyebrow at his sister worriedly. She shared his look. They hadn't known this. Did everyone else in the tribe know? Or was it just Kean? Pandia's belly flipped over and they turned back to Kean.
His words were repeating themselves over and over in Jex's head again. He knew about tokoroths well enough - demons trapped inside a young child. But animal souls and human souls mingling - it didn't quite make sense to him. He listened anyway, waiting for Nix's response.

Nix could feel her human mind back in control and her eyes widened, "you know him?!?" she said and kean merely nodded his head in answer and then pointed wordlessly to her legs. Nix looked down and then realised what he had meant and lifted her head slowly and looked up at the old man and smiled ,"your my grandfather" she said simply and kean smiled and nodded before looking at the others. "most half humans are kind and caring and totally like us" he explained before his eyes hardened ,"but all children who are told killing is right and caring is wrong should be pitied, they don't know any better" he said in a softer voice

That made sense. Jex had lived basically under the rules that killing was how the clans lived. He'd always known that was wrong. But the past few summers had made him believe that all the clans wanted to do was kill him. Which was true.
So tokoroths were to be pitied. Not something he'd ever given a thought about. He looked up, still intently listening to Kean.

Kean lifted his head up and looked out of the hole in the top of his tent and he nodded his grey haired head, "it's getting darker now" he said before looking back at the children in front of him. "what she is doing is simple, take the souls of animals that are powerful or aggressive and add them to the body of a child who has been taught to kill and and that she is their mother and god" he said before he looked around for somewhere to sit down. "but the most simple things are always the most deadly ones" he said as he sat down across from nix and nodded to her legs again

Now the confusion had cleared from Jex's head it all made sense. This Mage... why would she want to do that? Why would anyone want to do that? The questions rang in his head, but he already knew the answer.
He looked up. It was indeed getting darker.

Nix watched kean sit and her mind picked over the words he had said, he soon looked tired and nix gave a small smile before turning back to the door way of the tent and stretching herself out and her legs out and standing up and then nodding to the door way ,"thank you grandfather, but your sleepy now and should rest" she said in a soft and kind voice, so unlike her

Jex was glad to see Nix standing - in the human way. Not that he had a problem with the way she previously had, but the fear struck him again. He didn't know why.
"Rest well," Pandia said. "It's been a long day for all of us."

Kean looked over at nix and then turned her head to pandia and gave a soft smile before addressing both the girls at once ,"time has a funny way of making things seem bad so that we don't realise when we meet someone we care about" he said in a small voice before waving a hand to the door of the tent. Nix nodded her head and felt hear rush up the side of her neck for a reason she couldn't place but it was a nice feeling all the same

Pandia nodded as well. That did make sense. Kean gestured to the door of the tent, so she stood up, before making to leave.
Jex sighed inwardly. Just as he was comfortable. With the aid of Lux he got up, and they too made to leave Kean in peace.

Nix walked out side and looked up to see the moon above her, she and ghost both went stiff for a moment as the moon light swept over them both. Nix shook her head as she caught the scent of ghost weed again and she gave a small sideways smile as pandia walked out from behind her and she nudged her shoulder before walking past her ,"your tent will be over here" she said in a voice that was clearly trouble with thoughts

Jex and Lux made their way out of the tent, their minds clouded with thoughts. Only then did they realise how late it was. Jex looked up to see the moon standing bright against the darkness of the sky, a black void with a scattering of stars across it. The moonlight shone down on the camp and casted its silver light across all the tents.
"That's your tent over there," Lux said, snapping Jex away from his thoughts. "You'll be with Nix."

Nix watched pandia and her brother both point to the same tent and she felt her far go warm for moment before shaking her head ,"I'll sleep better outside" she said and pandia shook her head beside nixs arm. "no one sleeps outside or they will be taken and we can't lose someone from a different time zone" she said as they paused outside the tent and pandia held the flap open and nix felt her face go warm once again

Jex nodded, before assuring Lux he'd be alright. He limped over to the tent, where Pandia was holding open the entrance flap. His heart was racing, too fast for his liking. What if Nix changed again? It scared him enough the first time.
Shaking away the thought, he waited for her to go into the tent.
