The Marshlands were cruel and disliked any travellers who happened to visit its swampy areas. His feet left footprints on the muddy road with a disgusting sploth-ing sound. He hardily left any footprints being light and small like a dream personified. Even thou his face was young his hair was light grey like the hair of an old man. The boy looked around him with blue eyes, searching for something, anything, to help him escape his boredom. The trees around him were old and tall and they seemed to send out an aura of pure power, trying to uncertain the travellers walking under their crowns. The trees was the wardens of earth and their powerful senses did not care about who stepped over their roots as long as he or she did not intend to hurt their children. But in this place the malice was stronger then he had felt before. The wardens wanted every human creature to disappear from their forest, the only ones allowed to live here was the children of the earth or the elements. And he was not welcome there.
From his left he heard breathing and the sound of heavy paws. The creature appeared in his view, standing on a hill leaning out over the small animal trail he followed. The wolf growled low and jumped down in front of him.
“My dear” the boy said, relieved that he knew this wolf. “Is there anyone around here? I think I’ve manage to loose my way.” The boy sat down on the trail looking up at the trees crowns, unable to see the sky.
The wolf sighted and lay down before the boy. “Yuan, of course you are lost. This forest does not welcome people like you.” She followed his eyes, smelling the air and then turned back looking at the boy’s face. The she-wolf was surprised to see him smiling.
“No one wants people like me near. They rather cut out the guts then let me pass.” He smiled and turned his eyes back in the sky, hiding behind the wardens. “Don’t worry my dear, sooner or later, someone will pass this way and help us. And the wardens can’t do anything to stop it…”
