Being in the shadow of a big tree you feel very small and cold, wanting to find a better place but still seeking the protection of the warden of the forest. The girl who walked under the dark shadows of the wardens of the forest felt just like that, that she was the smallest being in the world and completely alone. Under the branches the wind stood still, not a grass straw wagged along in the normally lively forest, not a bird singed its song and no animal walked about. The human girl was trying to look through the trees crowns to have a look at the sky; she thought that it may was a storm coming and wanted to know how close it was. The scars on her legs hurt which they always did then thunder hang in the air. With her eyes on the sky the girl did not see what was in front of her and stumbled on a thick root. The girl fell down a hill and came to a stop just before she was about to fall into a dark river that ran through the forest. Nao sat up and sighted in relief that she had stopped before the river, the girl removed the backpack from her back and opened it to see if everything she had inside it was hole. The first thing she found was a knife made of stone, a shiver ran down her spine. The knife reminded her of her mission and she did not wish to be reminded right now. She threw the knife away on a stone a few meters away, not wanting to see or touch the hateful weapon. In the back of her head the girl knew that she would soon stand up and get the knife, life was not as simple that you could just throw away your problems like with a knife.

Vale heard a rustling down by the stream and was curious as to what animal would be big enough and stupid enough to roll down the hill. Creeping silently through the underbrush he stayed virtually invisible as he went to investigate the unknown creature. As he got closer his sensitive ears could pick up the sounds of movement. He hadn't heard a splash so he guess it hadn't fallen in the river. He rounded a crest, still taking caution to stay invisible, when he found the creature. It was a human. Ugh, he thought to himself. He didn't even like humans, they were creatures who feared anything they couldn't understand so basically anything that wasn't a human. Out of the last five he'd met one of them tried to kill him and the other 4 ran away. He saw her throw something towards the rocks, she looked troubled. He crept down stealthily and using his long tail wrapped it around the aobject, the fur covering his tail masking any sound that would have been made. Dropping it in his paw he saw it to be a little stone knife. He looked it over and decided it was worth keeping so he crept back to his last spot, climbing a tree and staying hidden in its foliage as he watched the girl to see what she'd do now.

What is destiny? The question passed in the human’s head as she sat down with the rivers deep water in front of her and the hateful stone knife behind her. She felt the tickling feeling that someone was watching her, like a cold reminder of the stone knife’s mission and why it has been created. If there was anything like destiny it would surely be responsible for all the happenings in the world, it was responsible for her losing her brother, for her creating the Abaddon and becoming an outcast without any place to return to and with demons and monsters walking close to her. Perhaps there was a half human smitten by the curse of the animals? Every being was created for a purpose and many of the animals were holy, but the changelings were different. To the human girl there was no difference between a changeling and demon, both of them shared the same wicked nature, given weapon and intelligence that made them dangerous. Everyone knew the changelings were beasts in human form with a bigger dose of intelligence than an average animal, they were not like human, capable of talk they just copied what they had heard before. A shiver ran down her spine, thinking of the touch of the demon, they way it had called her name and the look in its eyes, torment and satisfaction, the knowing that the monster would draw another human down to the hungry water that ate all life without any mercy. Suddenly the human girl felt exposed in the open, hugging her knees without the cold protection of that weapon. Standing up and turning toward the place where she had thrown the knife the girl searched the small stone mountains, its valleys and in the caves but could not find the knife nor feel its cool aura. The girl ran back to her backpack and taking out a shaping tool for the knife she help it low, next to her hip. Remembering all the lesions she had been told by her brother who often followed their father out in the hunting missions, the human girl lowered her central weight point and readied her legs for an assault. With her ears filled with the loud waters escape down the river and the throbbing pain in her legs the girl stood on the shore with a heart beating like the drum of the clan meetings or the sound of the woodpecker picking on a tree, making a bigger hole. Keeping her voice steady the female human called out over the shore: “I know you are here, beast!” she scanned the surroundings with her yellow eyes; “Give me back the knife you’ve taken or I’ll make you do it. The knife calls to me and I can find it anywhere, without me it wouldn’t get to taste the blood of the demon.”

Vale looked down with little to no interest at the human child. Pfft. If she really knew where he was she wouldn't be preparing for a ground assault and looking left and right like a herd of wild horses were coming. He knew he could easily sneak up on her, the river would block out any small sounds he might make though he usually made none and she had nowhere to go. Still though, what fun would it be to sneak up on her. Maybe he should just leave.....nah. He jumped down, landing silently on his paws when she wasn't looking and stood up. When she looked in his direction he smiled and waved. "Looking for lil ole me?"
